Between the beach, a cool drink, and some BBQ, you can handle the summer…but can your house handle the heat? Examine your home using our ‘Summertime Check-Up’ for fixes and reviews that won’t take up too much of your precious summer time and can have positive effects on your house not only for the next few months, but for the rest of the year.
Gutters >> Be sure to examine your gutters to make sure that they are in good condition and can do their job. Review for sagging, clogging, and holes and if the repairs cannot be made on your own, call in a professional. When storms and rain showers occur they need to be able to move water properly away from the foundation and if not, sufficient water damage could potentially occur to your home.
Air Conditioning >> Hopefully your AC is working to keep you cool! If you’re noticing that it’s blowing warm air, or is seemingly stressing to do its job, definitely consider having the unit cleaned and serviced. Even if the AC is working properly, give the system a quick clean from time to time to ensure everything will be working properly. Regular cleaning will extend the life of the unit, and will save you money in the long run!
Hazardous Materials >> Some summer projects will require the use of chemicals or other hazardous materials. Keep the flammable and dangerous materials in the garage, stored safely to protect yourself and others. If you are finished using the items, dispose of the materials in an environmentally safe way or in the means as spelled out on the manufacturer’s instructions.
CO and Smoke Detectors >> Go through and test each of the carbon monoxide and smoke detectors in your home. Test to ensure that everything is in working order and change out old batteries. Taking this time is imperative for the safety of your home and those in it.
