In the worst flooding event to strike the state of Vermont in 83 years, and what has been called "one of the top weather related disasters in Vermont's history" Hurricane Irene made landfall and dumped more than 15 inches of rain in a matter of hours. The State Office Complex in Waterbury was the largest water damage in Vermont's history.

In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Irene, GW Savage was contacted by the State of Vermont Buildings & General Services to assist in extracting, drying and stabilizing more than 450,000 square feet of space at the State Office Complex in Waterbury. The company started to mobilize after the initial inspection and had crews and equipment onsite that same day to commence work.

As the inspection of the State Office Complex continued and the scope of work grew the need for additional support did as well. Utilizing the long standing Disaster Recovery Plan that was place for situations such as this, GW Savage was able to call upon firms they had worked with in the past. GW Savage has collaborated with Action Restoration, Enviro-Clean, Compleat Restoration and Gristmill Builders on Disaster Recovery in the wake of storms such as Katrina and Ike.

During the course of the recovery, GW Savage had more than 280 employees and thousands of pieces of equipment operating. Air Movers, Dehumidifiers, Air Scrubbers, Drying Trailers and Generators facilitated the drying process and local companies such as Little Putty's Demolition assisted in the removal of mud, sludge and debris. GW Savage's collaboration with this team allowed them to work quickly and efficiently to recover each space.

As a customer service focused firm that specializes in fire, wind, & water restoration, structural drying and mold remediation, GW Savage also took on projects including banks, real estate offices, factories, warehouses, and other commercial and residential properties across the state.
